As the old saying goes, the best things in life are free. This is certainly the case with the Spiceworks Inc-developed application Spiceworks. It is network management software meant to make life easier for IT pros that is offered free of charge for anyone interested in using it. Small companies for example that don’t have a lot of money to spend can get the free Spiceworks network management software and enjoy the functionality it has to offer.

For no charge whatsoever, Spiceworks has several tools to offer, including network monitoring, a helpdesk, various PC inventory tools, and IT assets management. On top of that it provides access to an IT community made up of some 1.4 million IT pros from all over the world. The Spiceworks community of IT pros share useful information like tips and vendor, as well as other info, like jokes for example.

To get a better idea of what sort of functionality you can expect to get from Spiceworks, here are its main features:
- Easy to use network monitoring software that monitors the health of Exchange servers, lets you set up alerts for various events, tracks disk space, software installs, antivirus subscriptions, toner levels, and so on.
- Helpdesk software that you can use to receive tickets from the web of via email, assign tickets to various members of the IT team, create new tickets, and track tickets.
- The PC inventory tools help you rapidly discover PCs, Macs and Linux machines on the network, view software, patches and services, track licensing, service tags andd locations, inventory network devices, PCs, software installations and other things you manage, generate all sorts of inventory reports, and security store network data.

I can honestly say that Spiceworks is an essential bit of tech that any IT pro should check out. Further proof of how good Spiceworks is comes from the media, who over time gave it rave reviews and numerous awards, and from the IT pros themselves – how else can you explain why Spiceworks’ community is made up more than 1.4 million IT pros?

The bottom line is that Spiceworks is properly good network management software that is offered free of charge and IT pros should definitely check it out.
